Online The Impact of Donald Trump on America: A Cultic Studies Perspective

12:00pm-3:15pm ET

This course examines the impact of former President Trump’s rise to political power in the American landscape, and very often in clients that we serve. We explore this phenomenon through a multi-disciplinary lens, bringing together sociologist and cult specialist Janja Lalich with clinical trauma specialist Jamie Marich. Together we describe the principles of what makes a cult a cult, and then explain how dynamics connected to former President Trump fit into well-accepted, academic explanations within cultic studies. Through the course we facilitate discussion with course participants about the behavioral impact of such dynamics that we see in our clinical settings and what to be aware of in the coming months and years, regardless of the 2024 election outcome.

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of this course, we welcome anyone who works with the public to attend this course, although be advised that the content is primarily delivered for human services professionals and therapists (at all levels)

A General Note About Approvals

Please also note that APA-approved sponsors are accepted by many state boards, such as California BBS and major licensure boards within the state of Pennsylvania. In both of these cases, separate paperwork does not need to be filled out. Many state boards also accept out-of-state providers, which is why our Ohio approvals appear on every training. In some states, pre- or post-program approval forms must be sent, and you are responsible for checking into the rules of the licensure board in your state as to what is required.
